What's at stake: Reproductive Rights

Trump revoked multiple executive orders signed by President Biden that sought to protect access to reproductive health care. Trump also signed an EO re-affirming the Hyde Amendment, which prevents federal funding from being used to fund abortions. And it goes even further, potentially ending funding for programs that are seen to "promote" abortion in any way, like family planning services.

How you can help

Join your local or state practical support collective. These groups serve abortion seekers by helping them with travel, lodging, food assistance, childcare or other basic needs, so that they can receive care safely and with dignity.

You can also fundraise on a micro level, because every donation counts for nonprofits. Host a clothing swap, or ask friends to meet for drinks, as well as donate $20 to an organization supporting reproductive rights.

What's at stake: Women's Healthcare

The Trump Administration has cut off or threatened funding for crucial research on women's health, including studies to cure cancer, understand conditions like endometriosis and the impacts of menopause. The administration also has removed important research and information on women's health from federal websites.

How you can help

Take action today by connecting with organizations that prioritize women's health advocacy. For example, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has an action center to help contact your elected officials and get involved in advocacy work.

You also play an important role in educating your family and friends on women's health issues that are too often ignored or misunderstood. Massachusetts General Hospital has a comprehensive guide to women's health resources you can share with others.

What's at stake: Equal Employment

Trump removed longstanding protections for federal contract workers from workplace discrimination by rescinding Executive Order 11246. This will make it even harder for women to get good jobs in many industries fueled by federal investments, particularly the building trades. He's also undermined civil rights enforcement across federal agencies, and has ended grant programs supporting women's employment across the country as part of anti-DEI efforts.

How you can help

Unions not only help reduce the pay gap for women and people of color, they also help ensure access to health and retirement benefits, paid leave, predictable scheduling and more. They can also help protect women from workplace retaliation and harassment.

If you're unable to unionize, consider joining or volunteering to help your local worker center. These centers help workers know and exercise their rights, particularly low-wage workers.

What's at stake: Voting Rights

Trump issued an executive order making it harder for millions of citizens to participate in elections, especially women, through extreme provisions. Because nearly 80% of married women (more than 69 million) adopt their partner's surname, they would be ineligible to register to vote if the name on their ID does not directly match their proof of citizenship.
